Hail and Welcome to Awen Camp 2008!

We are very pleased to announce the first annual Awen Druid Camp in Maine (2008). The camp will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of September, 2008 at Snowbird Lodge in Harrison, Maine, USA.

The theme of this year’s Awen Camp is Bardic Craft, one of the three sacred crafts of the Druid. Traditionally the Bard was the keeper of the stories and histories of the peoples of the British Isles. Theirs was the gift of using word, sound, and song to carry the heritage of their communities. Their path was that of seeking divine inspiration (Awen), seeking their muse and using that Awen to fuel their creativity - using poetry, story and song, to connect their people with the land, the gods and each other.

This camp will feature many workshops, rituals, and activities around the craft of the Bard, helping all of us find inspiration and connection. Located at the delightful Snowbird Lodge in beautiful Harrison, Maine, the camp will be a three day festival of sharing and connecting with fellow druids, pagans, and bards from across the States and abroad. This year’s camp will feature:

  • Various Bardic workshops: sound healing, poetry, music, improvisation, finding inspiration;
  • Storytelling - sharing the stories of this land;
  • Trance Dance with our own masters of sound - Freakwitch;
  • Celtic sweatlodge;
  • First Annual Eistedfodd - Community Creativity Sharing (a.k.a. Open Mic);
  • Ritual and celebration; and
  • Much, much, more to be discovered and explored

Awen Camp is open to people of all walks of life and all religious traditions.
